Seahawks select Mississippi State's Charles Cross. Why it matters

July 2024 · 1 minute read

So there it is, the Seahawks didn't make a trade at #9, instead standing pat and making a selection during the annual NFL Draft from Las Vegas.

This is why you should be excited about that.

While it isn't the same splash as selecting a quarterback or making a blockbuster trade, Charles Cross fills an immediate and immense need in bolstering the offensive line.

Cross, at 6'4" 307 pounds possesses the length and size needed for this Seahawks line---he reminds many of Duane Brown.

Still, Cross is super athletic running a 4.95 40-yard dash.

Think about the criticism Russell Wilson had about the Seahawks offensive line---and how much he was sacked in the last few years.

The Seahawks needed help up front.

Cross represents the last available elite offensive tackles, playing in the mighty SEC he's certainly battle tested and ready to bolster the offensive line.

That should excite fans, and remember there are many more picks--and potentially more trades for Seattle to make through the rest of the draft.
