BOISE, Idaho (CBS2 News) — It's a little slice of Europe, in Idaho! Das Alpenhaus Delikatessen is a local German beer garden, deli and market that prides themselves on being authentic.

Jamie Webster, owner of Das Alpenhaus Delikatessen, is of German descent and even attended primary school abroad. He says he grew up going to stores similar to the one he's created with his grandmother.

"I was tired of not being able to find the things I wanted in Boise so I opened my own store," said Webster.

Webster says if you visit Das Alpenhaus Delikatessen, you can expect to shop authentic German goods.

"I want to make sure there's a good variety for people, so they have snack foods to take home, desserts, good meats to eat or cook on the grill, all the pickles, relishes, jams, toasts, breads, the beers, the wines, we have a little bit everything," said Webster. "So you really have a great selection, plus having just the cookbooks alone, people can buy ingredients here and take them home and cook too."

Webster says he works with multiple importers to get his food in from Europe.

"Then we put together a big order and we haul it in, about a pallet or two at a time, and try to keep our shelves stocked with as much as possible," said Webster. "Most of our foods are German fast foods."

Webster says he enjoys being able to expose people to German culture.

"It gives a lot of German speaking folks and folks that have been to Germany somewhere to go and actually find things that they can take home with them," said Webster. "Plus, I mean, a lot of people just meet here because they want to speak German with each other."

Das Alpenhaus Delikatessen doesn't only have goods from Germany. They also sell food from Switzerland, Bavaria, Austria and other old German speaking countries. Webster says they have hundreds of goods in stock daily.

"A delikatessen is a place you go into to shop foods and you also can get things like a sandwich or a beer or a beverage," said Webster.

"We're a pretty easygoing, family style business and our employees are also our family and our customers, eventually over time, become part of our family," said Webster.
